Mask Lithograph

This piece is one I did while in college. It was for a lithography class. The image was drawn and printed from a stone. It was part of a series I had done on masks. I really liked how this one turned out.

The mask itself has a more organic face-like feel than a hard edged, carved mask. The marks on the mask were made by applying the grease pencil to the stone and then taking sandpaper and rubbing the surface. The sandpaper would remove the pencil until the paper became full of the grease pencil and then would actually leave grease marks on the stone as I was rubbing.  I like the effect it created.  My favorite part though is the hint of an eye behind the mask.  I hope you like it.
