The Bird goes RAWR!

Well it has been a while since I have shown off a design.  I apologize for the lack of activity.

There really isn't much to say about this one.  I was working on someone's computer at work and was letting my mind wander.  I had this idea so I sketched it out real quick.  Actually creating the design did not take much time at all.  Hopefully you enjoy it.

I Invade NY

This t-shirt is dedicated to my brother and future sister-in-law.  They live in New York City and I thought I would make something for them.  NY has many dangers but none worse than hungry aliens bent on destruction and domination.  Enjoy!

Gushing Rainbows

I know the tragedy in the Gulf is on a lot of people's minds.  I had this idea for a shirt for a week or so but wasn't sure if I should do it or not.  The real purpose is to make someone smile when they see it.  I am not the type of person that sets out to make big important statements about issues with my art.  I try to do my art and hope it has an effect on the person viewing it whether that is a smile, chuckle, grimace, or whatever else.  People add their own experience when viewing art which is why I love doing it.  Let me know what you think.

Umbrella Monster

This is another piece in my monster series for kids clothing. He came about in a brainstorming session after I decided I didn't like the other sketches I had made for monsters. This one is all set for the rainy days ahead.

5 Year Old Princess

The other day my daughter was drawing a picture at the computer desk.  When I saw it I thought it was really good so I decided to make it into a t-shirt.  I made some slight changes to it and then added the cloud and stars but I think it turned out really well.  I am very proud of her work.  Here is the original.

Lil Monster

With the addition of kids clothing on Red Bubble, I decided I wanted to try some designs for kids. I liked the idea of a single color, simple shaped design. I thought a monster theme would be appropriate for my kids' designs. Definitely not drooling, scary monsters but nice, cute ones (maybe a little devilish, these are for kids after all). So hope you like it. I already have a few sketches for some more.

Frank Sings

This is my newest t-shirt.  I have been working on it for about a week now.  This is one of those ideas that came while looking at other people's work.  I saw someone's zombie t-shirt and I started thinking about classic horror monsters and putting them in weird situations in my head.  This one seemed funny to me.  I think singing probably helped Frank to be less angry and not to kill so much.  Enjoy.

Mask Lithograph

This piece is one I did while in college. It was for a lithography class. The image was drawn and printed from a stone. It was part of a series I had done on masks. I really liked how this one turned out.

The mask itself has a more organic face-like feel than a hard edged, carved mask. The marks on the mask were made by applying the grease pencil to the stone and then taking sandpaper and rubbing the surface. The sandpaper would remove the pencil until the paper became full of the grease pencil and then would actually leave grease marks on the stone as I was rubbing.  I like the effect it created.  My favorite part though is the hint of an eye behind the mask.  I hope you like it.

Love Invaders

I have always been a big fan of retro games. I actually collect old game systems as anyone who has been in my garage can attest. For a while I had wanted to make a retro gaming t-shirt. I have seen some great examples online so I started brainstorming ideas of my own.

Love Invaders is what I came up with. I thought that maybe there were some Space Invaders that might not be interested in total destruction. What if some of them wanted to find love and have kids? This t-shirt shows the result of such love. Hope you like it. Comments are appreciated.

Tricked Out Model T

This is a t-shirt design I came up with a little while back. It was one of those ideas where I just started thinking about whatever came to mind and hoping something good passed through. Initially, it was just going to be the flames but I figured if someone was tricking out a Model T they would definitely add some spinners and fuzzy dice. I am really pleased with how this turned out. This was the idea that started me back on vector artwork. I hadn't done anything since college and this really needed clean lines so I jumped back into it. Let me know what you think.

Charlie Chaplin

This is one of my favorite pieces.  He is part of a series I did that portray famous people as robots.  I have always loved Charlie Chaplin movies so this was a logical choice for me.  As for the whole robot thing (if you look at my other work there are more than a few robots) I just think they are fun.  My favorite part of this one is his tie.  It took me a while and I like the detail.  Any comments are appreciated.

This piece was done entirely on a computer.  It was done with a natural media program called ArtRage from Ambient Design.

Trooper J

I am not entirely sure where this idea came from.  I just remember thinking that it would be funny to see.  I imagined what a stormtrooper might do on his off time, what interests he might have. Obviously some are into music so it seemed natural that one might be a DJ.

This one took a while because I made it in a vector program.  I learned a lot doing it and I hope it turned out ok.

Office Assassin

Sometimes ideas come out of nowhere.  I had this idea while sitting and watching TV.  A commercial came on for some business website and they flashed a bunch of silhouettes of people related to business, people with papers or briefcases, that kind of thing.  So I got this image in my head of one of those silhouettes with a briefcase and a rifle and that is how "Office Assassin" was born.  It is meant to be silly and funny and hopefully people take it that way.  Available as a t-shirt from RedBubble.

Also be sure to check out my new website offered through RedBubble.  It is my own personal site and store.  RedBubble takes care of everything else just like on their main site but more centered around my artwork.  It is still kind of a work in progress.

Little Robot

Here is my newest creation called "Little Robot."  Little Robot is a little sad and a little confused.  As for why he is those things that is up to you.  He started as just a sketch I was messing around with.  I didn't get very far on him and I put him down for a little while.  The other night I picked him up again and finished him.  I like the way he turned out, especially the emotion I see on his face.

I designed him as a T-shirt.  Check my RedBubble to see him and a few other things I have done lately.

"The Other Side" - My heart is yours...

It has a been a little while since I posted a new piece.  Holidays have been pretty busy.  Now that the holidays are done I started work on some new Valentine's Day cards for "The Other Side."  The newest card is titled, "My heart is yours."

Nothing can match the love of two people made for each other.  This should be on my RedBubble soon.
